30 Years Celebrating the Lunar New Year Together
For thirty years,
Southern News has stood side by side with the diverse communities of Greater Houston,
welcoming the Lunar New Year with shared joy and shared hope.
From the early days of a single newspaper,
to the lights of our media center shining across the city skyline,
we have grown together with Houston—
celebrating milestones, preserving culture, and building bridges among communities.
The Lunar New Year is no longer only a cultural tradition—
it has become a celebration embraced by the entire city.
Red lanterns glow, drums echo, lions dance,
and neighbors of every background gather beneath one sky
to say together: Happy New Year.
For three decades, we have remained committed—
connecting people, honoring heritage, and inspiring the future.
And today is no exception.
With gratitude and renewed purpose,
we celebrate once more—
welcoming a new spring, and stepping forward together.
