● 问题產品是否已全面下架;

● 受影响產品资讯是否公开透明;

● 是否依法究责并追究企业责任;

Taiwan Toxic Cooking Oil Scandal: Food Safety Must Never Be Compromised

Taiwan is facing a major food safety crisis following the discovery that certain batches of cooking oil were contaminated with excessive levels of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), a carcinogenic substance. The incident has raised widespread public concern, prompting government investigations, product recalls, and renewed calls for stronger food safety regulations.

Food safety is not a political issue—it is a matter of public health. Consumers deserve to know whether contaminated products have been removed from the market, whether the supply chain has been fully traced, and whether those responsible will be held accountable. Transparency, scientific testing, and swift enforcement are essential to restoring public confidence.

The scandal also highlights the importance of a modern food safety system that includes strict quality control, comprehensive product traceability, routine inspections, and timely public disclosure. Businesses must uphold the highest ethical standards, while regulators must ensure that food safety laws are enforced without exception.

As the saying goes, “Food is the foundation of life, and food safety is the foundation of public health.” Taiwan now has an opportunity to strengthen its food safety framework and rebuild consumer trust. Protecting the health of the people must always remain the highest priority.
