Listening to Residents and Demonstrating Strong Support for Houston’s Asian Community

This morning, Houston Mayor John Whitmire visited the Southern News Group headquarters, taking time to meet with community leaders, listen to local concerns, and learn more about the needs and aspirations of our community. It was a great honor and privilege to welcome him.

Mayor Whitmire’s visit reflected his hands-on and people-centered approach to public service. More importantly, it demonstrated his sincere commitment to Houston’s Asian American community. Since taking office, Mayor Whitmire has actively promoted inclusion, embraced diversity, and appointed more than a dozen outstanding Asian American leaders to key positions within the City of Houston. His leadership clearly reflects the principles of equal opportunity, merit-based appointments, and unity among all communities.

For many years, Southern News Group has remained committed to serving the community, strengthening cultural understanding, promoting economic development, and building meaningful partnerships between government and the diverse communities of Houston.
